Three Iced Teas To Beat the Heat


 

I'm gulity of buying those expensive iced teas from the shelf at health food stores, but if you have the time, they're so easy to make at home! The mint in Moroccan Iced Tea is a remedy for digestive problems, with Vitamin A, C, B12, and Folic Acid, Riboflavin, and Thiamine to name a few. Fresh lime juice offers a large dose of antioxidants, and strengthens the immune system. Lemon

Ginger Mate Tea has 24 vitamins and minerals, 15 amino acids, 11 poly phenols, is high in antioxidants, and stimulates mental clarity. Agave, lemon, and ginger juice together have antibacterial properties, calcium for healthy bones and teeth, aid in proper digestion, help with menstrual disorders, and those who suffer with high blood pressure.

Moroccan Iced Tea

4 Moroccan mint tea bags, strings tied together

6 cups filtered water

4-5 sprigs of fresh mint

the juice of 3 limes

2 cups ice cubes

agave syrup or unbleached granulated sugar

1. Using a saucepan, bring the water to a boil, then turn off the heat. Drop in the tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes. 

2. Retrieve the tea bags and sweeten the tea if desired. Using a heat proof pitcher, add the ice cubes, lime juice, and pour the tea into the pitcher. Stir, ad the mint sprigs, and chill in the fridge until serving.

 

Lemon Ginger Mate Iced Tea

4 Yerba Mate tea bags, strings tied together

6 cups filtered water

3 tablespoons fresh ginger, peeled and chopped

juice of 4 lemons

2 cups ice cubes

agave syrup or honey to sweeten

1. Using a saucepan, bring the water and ginger to a boil, then turn off the heat. Drop in the tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes.

2. Retrieve the tea bags, and sweeten the tea if desired. Using a heatproof pitcher, add the ice cubes, then pour in the tea and lemon juice. Stir, and chill in the fridge until serving. 

 

Stress Free Iced Tea

1 chamomile tea bag

1 Rosehip tea bag

1 raspberry leaf tea bag

1 lavender tea bag

3 cups cranberry juice

3 thin slices of fresh cucumber

3 thin slices of fresh orange

3 thin slices of Cox, Granny Smith, or Fiji apple

6 cups filtered water

2 cups ice cubes

agave syrup or honey to sweeten

1. Follow the directions to make tea as above until the tea is steeped. Remove the tea bags and sweetened. Using a heatproof pitcher, add in the following order: Ice, tea, juice. Finally add the apple, cucumber, and orange. Stir again, and chill for 15-20 minutes for flavors to fully blend.
